Having those three players as core, 1000% you can win a world championship – Jay Williams feels signing Kyrie Irving can help the Lakers go all the way

NBA analyst Jay Williams believes the LA Lakers could go all the way in the upcoming season of the league if they add Kyrie Irving to their squad. Williams feels Irving along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis can make the Lakers a favorite contender for the Championship.

There were reports that the Lakers were looking to rope in Kyrie Irving from Brooklyn Nets but the deal hasn’t been finalized. As reported by Marca, the Lakers are going all in for Kyrie Irving after extending LeBron James’ contract.

Irving has the experience of playing along with LeBron James and the duo can deliver the goods for the Lakers.

Jay Williams told Zach Lowe on Get Up, “I don’t know if they’re willing to offer enough for Irving. That comes down to them offering more than one draft pick for Kyrie Irving when they’re already slated – not having a lot of draft picks to offer. So, if I’m Jeanie Buss, I still go all in to get Lebron James another championship.”

“Yes. Well, depends on what you have to give up but ff you’re putting Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and LeBron James on the same team, yes, you could win a world championship with those three.

“Depending upon who you’ve added to your bench and depth, by having those three players as core, 1000% you can win a world championship.”

In fact, there were huge expectations when the Lakers added Russell Westbrook before the previous season. However, Westbrook, Anthony Davis and LeBron James could only play 21 matches together due to injury woes to the last two players.

The Lakers had an 11-10 record when their Big 3 played together in the previous season. Furthermore, Westbrook’s performance was not up to the mark.

Lakers will hope that LeBron James and Anthony Davis stay at the top of their fitness in the upcoming season.
