Golden State Warriors talisman Steph Curry has termed his relationship with Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James as complex. The duo have shared an epic rivalry with each other since Curry has joined the league as a rookie.
The rivalry between these two veterans commenced back in 2015 when the Dubs took on LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Curry won his maiden NBA championship after beating the Cavaliers. However, James was able to get his revenge as the Cavaliers registered a 3-1 win in the NBA finals against GSW in 2016.
The two teams once again met in the NBA finals in the next two editions and the Dubs were able to win on both occasions.
“It’s going to be really hard to find two teams going four years in a row in a Finals, just the way the NBA landscape is going,” Curry said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “That’ll go down in history as four amazing years.”
Curry revealed James really helped with the tips and how to cope with expectations and pressure when he came into the league as a youngster.
“It’s complex, because you go from me playing in the tournament, him coming to watch to me coming in as a young rookie in the league and he giving me advice on how to get through some of the early struggles I was going to go through as a player, to the four finals appearances in a row,” Curry said.
“He’s a great dude, great friend, great competitor,” Curry said. “It’s amazing to go back to look at where it all started, in Ford Field and a Sweet Sixteen game.”
Meanwhile, LeBron James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 55 games in 2022-23. He was selected to play in his nineteenth All-Star games.
On the other hand, Curry averaged 29.7 in the 2022-23 season for Golden State Warriors. He also averaged 6.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists in the previous season of the league.
Golden State Warriors’ campaign in the 2022-23 season came to an end after their 4-2 loss against Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.
