Victor Wembanyama has admitted it is going to feel weird when he will face legendary LeBron James in the next season of the NBA. The youngster, who grew up watching the King, is looking forward to playing against the best in the business.
Victor is already gathering a lot of spotlight before the NBA draft on Thursday and he is been regarded as one of the brightest prospects of the league. The young gun is expected to be picked by the San Antonio Spurs with their first pick in the draft this year.
The 19-year-old has certainly shown all the skills to go a long way in his career and he will be looking to prove his mettle. At 2.19 meters, the Frenchman has joined the tallest players in NBA history and he will look to live up to the hype he has received thus far.
“I know it’s gonna feel really special when I play against the top guys that I’ve been watching my whole life, especially LeBron,” Wembanyama said on JJ Redick’s Old Man and the Three podcast.
“When I play against LeBron, it’s gonna feel so weird. The French guys, it’s gonna be special playing against them, too.”
On the other hand, the youngster is motivated to do well in the upcoming season. Victor admitted it is not going to be easy when he will take on the big boys in the NBA but promised to give his absolute best on the court for his team.
He said, “I know what I want. I’m driven from the inside of my heart. Nothing can put me out of my path.
“My totem is something bigger than basketball. It’s just accomplishing yourself inside this universe. When I need motivation, when I need energy, when I’m tired and I need to fight on the court and it’s hard, I always remember, I’m free in the universe. I do what I can. I know what I wanna do and nothing’s gonna stop me from doing it.
“It doesn’t just stop in basketball, it’s about life.”
Victor will look to tick the right boxes in the NBA and he is expected to take the league by storm.
