Knicks Power Past Cavaliers Again to Take Commanding 2-0 Series Lead

New York Knicks produced a dominant second-half performance to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-93 on Thursday, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

After pulling off a dramatic comeback victory in Game One, the Knicks once again found a way to overpower Cleveland, this time using a devastating third-quarter surge to seize control of the contest.

With star guard Jalen Brunson struggling to find his rhythm early, it was Josh Hart who stepped up with one of the finest playoff performances of his career. Hart scored a playoff career-high 26 points and played a key role in New York’s offensive flow throughout the night.

Brunson, who had inspired the Knicks’ remarkable recovery from a 22-point fourth-quarter deficit in the series opener, endured a difficult first half and managed only two points before the break. However, the guard still made a major impact by orchestrating the offense brilliantly. He finished with 19 points and a playoff career-best 14 assists as New York consistently broke down Cleveland’s defence.

Hart also contributed seven assists and knocked down five three-pointers as the Knicks connected on 13 shots from beyond the arc.

Mikal Bridges added 19 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns delivered another strong all-round display with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The balanced scoring and ball movement allowed the Knicks to maintain control even when Cleveland attempted to fight back.

The Cavaliers struggled to match New York’s intensity despite another solid effort from Donovan Mitchell, who led his side with 26 points. James Harden contributed 18 points for Cleveland, but the home side could not sustain momentum after briefly threatening a comeback in the fourth quarter.

Cleveland managed to trim an 18-point deficit down to seven early in the final period, raising hopes of another late rally. However, the Knicks quickly responded with another burst of scoring to pull away decisively and silence the Cavaliers crowd.

With the series now shifting to Madison Square Garden for Games Three and Four on Saturday and Monday, New York has placed itself firmly in control of the best-of-seven contest.

The winner of the Eastern Conference finals will advance to face either the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals. The Western Conference finals are currently tied at 1-1.
