LeBron James Reportedly Signs $15M-a-Year Polymarket Deal, Nearly Four Times His 76ers Salary

Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James will reportedly earn $15 million annually from a new endorsement agreement with prediction-market platform Polymarket, significantly more than his expected NBA salary this season.

According to Front Office Sports, James is working strictly as an endorser and has not invested in Polymarket. The exact length of the agreement has not been disclosed, although it has been described as an “ongoing engagement” involving social media posts and other promotional content. His promotions are expected to focus on football rather than basketball.

The 41-year-old signed a two-year, $8 million contract with Philadelphia in July and is expected to receive slightly less than $4 million from the 76ers during the 2026-27 season. His reported Polymarket earnings would therefore be around $11 million higher than his basketball salary this year.

James earned nearly $53 million with the Los Angeles Lakers last season before joining Philadelphia.

The size of the endorsement agreement has also sparked discussion about how outside sponsorships could affect NBA contracts.

“To my knowledge, this doesn’t interfere with any CBA rules,” NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints wrote. “But moving forward, these side deals players have with companies could directly lead to smaller contracts to help with cap relief, which, in theory, is kind of like cap circumvention.”

“A player could take significantly less on a contract knowing they have a potential sponsorship lined up to make up $10M+,” Siegel added. “Player then goes to team to let them know they’ll sign for less due to said side deals. Calls are made, and it’s done.”

Siegel later clarified that he was discussing the broader possibility of endorsement income making it easier for players to accept lower NBA salaries.

There is currently no reported connection between Philadelphia and James’ Polymarket agreement. Front Office Sports has also reported that the NBA does not specifically prohibit players from endorsing prediction markets.

The issue has attracted additional attention following the NBA’s recent punishment of the Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi Leonard over salary-cap circumvention violations. An independent investigation found the Clippers helped arrange outside income opportunities for Leonard through companies connected to the franchise.

James reportedly joined Polymarket after his previous endorsement agreement with DraftKings expired earlier this summer.
