The Philadelphia 76ers officially confirmed on Monday that LeBron James will wear the iconic No. 23 jersey as he begins the next chapter of his NBA career with the Eastern Conference franchise.

The announcement was made through the club’s social media channels, where the 76ers shared a photograph from the team’s locker room featuring James’ jersey with the No. 23 on display.

The confirmation comes days after LeBron announced his decision to join Philadelphia on Friday, ending speculation over his future and setting the stage for a new challenge with one of the league’s most ambitious teams.

Welcoming the four-time NBA champion to the franchise, 76ers Managing Partner Josh Harris expressed his excitement about the team’s prospects for the upcoming season.

“I ‌cannot ⁠wait to see LeBron alongside Jaylen Brown, VJ ⁠Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and our talented roster as we work to deliver a championship for Philly,” Harris said in a press ‌release.

LeBron’s arrival significantly strengthens Philadelphia’s roster, with the veteran set to team up with an impressive group of players as the franchise pursues an NBA title.

The move also gives James an opportunity to add another remarkable achievement to his already illustrious career. Having won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat and one title each with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers, the veteran forward now has the chance to become the first player in league history to win NBA championships with four different teams.
