Luka Doncic becomes the fourth fastest player in NBA history to achieve the treble of 1000 points, rebounds and assists

Luka Doncic has gone on to become one of NBA’s brightest stars since he was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018. He has broken numerous records in the leagues in the previous two seasons and he went on to rewrite the record-books again on Monday-night as he became the fourth fastest player in NBA history to reach the feat of 1000 points, 1000 rebounds and 1000 assists.

The Mavericks star went past LeBron James in the list and is only behind Oscar Robertson, Ben Simmons and Magic Johnson. Doncic achieved the feat in just 139 games whereas James had taken 19 more games to reach the milestone.

Doncic, who missed the previous game due to quadriceps contusion, scored 33 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists as the Mavericks recorded a 113-100 victory over the Houston Rockets.

“Luka’s one of many players that had heard the season wasn’t going to start until January or February,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said afterwards. “We started the year in December … so his preparation schedule was thrown off and he just got behind the curve.”

“It’s pretty clear now that he’s working his way back to where he needs to be. All his physical and conditioning indicators are really going in a good, strong direction. And you can tell on the floor. You can see that he’s getting better and better as each day goes by.”

His triple-double against the Rockets on Monday was the 26th of his career. It was also only the third-time he scored over 30 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Doncic also has three of the five 30-15-10 performances in NBA history by players younger than 22 years, the other two have been recorded by Johnson and Robertson in 1960 and 1981.

The 21-year-old even outplayed James Harden, who was the MVP in the 2018 season. Harden finished with 21 points and 10 assists in the game.
