Mavericks Reward Naji Marshall with Multi-Year Contract Extension

The Dallas Mavericks have secured the future of forward Naji Marshall, announcing that the 28-year-old has signed a multi-year contract extension with the franchise. As per team policy, the financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Marshall earned the new deal after producing the best season of his NBA career in 2025-26. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged career highs of 15.2 points, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 29.5 minutes per game while shooting 51.0 percent from the field. He also contributed 4.7 rebounds per contest across 74 appearances, including a career-best 47 starts.

His offensive growth was highlighted by six 30-point performances during the season, another career milestone that underscored his increasing role in Dallas’ lineup.

Mavericks President Masai Ujiri praised Marshall’s work ethic and impact on the team, saying the extension reflected his consistent commitment and value on both ends of the floor.

“Naji has earned this opportunity through the way he approaches the game every day,” Ujiri said. “He is a competitive player who impacts winning in a variety of ways. His versatility, toughness and willingness to embrace every challenge make him an important part of what we’re building.”

Marshall has developed into a key contributor since joining the Mavericks in 2024. Over two seasons with Dallas, he has averaged 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 143 games, making 78 starts while shooting 50.9 percent from the field.

His scoring production has also reached new heights. Marshall has recorded eight 30-point games during his time with Dallas after failing to score 30 points in any game across his first four NBA seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans.

For his NBA career, Marshall owns averages of 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.8 steals in 373 games with New Orleans and Dallas. The forward entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020 before spending four seasons with the Pelicans. He joined the Mavericks on July 6, 2024.

Before turning professional, Marshall spent three seasons at Xavier, where he earned Big East All-Freshman Team honours in 2017-18, was named to the All-Big East Second Team the following year and received First Team All-Big East recognition in 2019-20.

The Mavericks also confirmed that Marshall will wear jersey No. 3 instead of No. 13 for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.
