NBA Analyst Stephen A Smith criticised Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving and questioned his commitment towards the franchise

This season’s NBA is full of controversies starting from Ben Simmons’ fallout with the Philadelphia 76ers to Kyrie Irving going missing for the Brooklyn Nets after he denied taking the COVID-19 vaccination. The star point guard has been out of action for a long time now and therefore questions were raised by several experts, fans and others over his commitment to the franchise.

Famous NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, who is known for his controversial takes on the league and its players recently criticised Kyrie Irving for showing no support towards his franchise, Brooklyn Nets. he made harsh claims and even questioned the point guard’s intentions by doing all of these things and lastly said that the former NBA Champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers cannot be trusted.

Irving has had a topsy turvy NBA career which starts with great matches and big points and then drops down due to several injuries and lastly, controversies ruin everything. He was injured last season during the postseason and his absence meant Kevin Durant had to fight all alone. Experts feel that Irving’s absence made the difference for the Nets as they failed to win the NBA Championship last year despite getting tagged as favourites.

Fans have been very vocal about what they think about their star point guard. While some question his integration and intentions, others support him in his belief and decisions.

Analyst Stephen A Smith has highlighted how Irving has looked disinterested during the course of the season. He has criticised this attitude from the former Celtics man. Smith spilt some beans over the whole Irving scenario as he said, “I have been complaining about Kyrie Irving’s commitment and I will validate it,” claimed the 54-year-old.

Stephen A Smith shared a lot more as he discussed the issue in detail with Jay Williams on ESPN’s First Takes on how untrustworthy he considers the 7-time All-star. “KD signed his extension, right? KD signed his extension. James Harden has an extension that he can sign anytime he wants to. There was $196 million on the table for Kyrie Irving.” Smith complained about his privileges. “You think that $196 million is gonna be available in January? You’re damn right it ain’t. And why? Not because of this, because there’s a history that he can’t be trusted.”

Brooklyn  Nets however are doing decently as they are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 5-3 and have a three-match winning streak going on after a slow start.
