LeBron James took his performance to an entirely new level on Tuesday as he scored an unbelievable no look three-pointer against the Houston Rockets.
It was a brave attempt couple with extraordinary execution and as revealed by James after the match, he took the shot as he accepted a mid-game bet with his teammate.
The Lakers were already ahead of the Rockets by 21 points in the second quarter when James received a pass in the corner in front of his Lakers’ bench. That was when he heard Dennis Schroder’s voice in his ear.
“I told him to bet a Benjamin on it, so he shot it,” Schroder said.
James then turned back to look in Schroder’s eyes and just attempted the three-pointer from that position.
“I took the bet while I was still shooting the ball,” James said.
“A bet isn’t official until you look a man in the eye, so I had to look him into the eye, and I was able to win that one,” he added.
The Lakers bench erupted in celebration as the shot went in and James was still standing with his back facing the basket.
The four-time NBA champion’s skillset are well known but a no-look three pointer isn’t something we get to see everyday.
James, however, paid tribute to NBA legend Steph Curry, who actually is known for taking these no-look shots.
“Steph [has] definitely probably done it the most in our league, and when you shoot the ball as beautiful and effortlessly and precisely as Steph does, he has the ultimate, ultra-green light to do that,” James explained.
“‘Cause 10 times out of nine, it’s going in for Steph.”
The amazing no-look three-pointer was just the icing on the cake on the Lakers’ dominant 117-100 victory over the Rockets.
James’ 26 points and Anthony Davis’ 19 points helped the Lakers, who are also the defending champions, to improve their record fo a League-best 9-3 and they are now unbeaten in away matches as well.
