NBA Round-Up: Clippers Triumph Over Lakers, Jokic and Giannis Dominate, Thunder Continue Hot Streak

The Los Angeles Clippers claimed city bragging rights with a commanding 116-102 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday in Inglewood, marking their first meeting in the city since 1999. James Harden led the Clippers with 21 points and 12 assists, while Ivica Zubac delivered a dominant double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds against his former team.  

Norman Powell scored 22 points and Kawhi Leonard added 19 as the Clippers secured their fourth consecutive win, improving to 15-6 in their new $2 billion arena. Despite 25 points and 11 assists from LeBron James and a double-double from Anthony Davis (16 points, 10 rebounds), the Lakers fell to their fourth loss in six games.  

Bucks 123, 76ers 109

In Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo powered the Bucks to a 123-109 win over a depleted Philadelphia 76ers squad, scoring 34 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Damian Lillard contributed 25 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, as the Bucks notched their fourth straight win.  

Tyrese Maxey was a bright spot for the 76ers with 37 points, but the team struggled without Joel Embiid (knee management) and Paul George (groin). The loss marked Philadelphia’s sixth straight defeat.  

Nuggets 113, Magic 100 

Nikola Jokic recorded his 18th triple-double of the season with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Orlando Magic. Jokic’s efficient performance led Denver to its sixth consecutive road win.  

The Magic, missing key players like Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, saw Wendell Carter Jr. post a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Orlando has now lost three straight games.  

Thunder 127, Nets 101

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tallied 27 points and 10 assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder rolled past the Brooklyn Nets. Oklahoma City has won 20 of its last 23 games and extended its home winning streak to 12.  

The Nets, led by Tyrese Martin and Johnson with 15 points apiece, dropped their third consecutive game and 19th of their last 24.  

Kings 123, Wizards 100  

Domantas Sabonis recorded his 37th double-double of the season with 29 points and 18 rebounds, leading the Sacramento Kings to a blowout win over the Washington Wizards. De’Aaron Fox added a double-double with 12 points and 13 assists.  

Jonas Valanciunas delivered 23 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for the Wizards, who suffered their 10th consecutive defeat.  

Trail Blazers 113, Bulls 102  

Scoot Henderson’s 25 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds powered the Portland Trail Blazers past the Chicago Bulls, snapping a five-game losing streak. Shaedon Sharpe added 23 points for Portland.  

Zach LaVine scored 27 points for Chicago, which has now lost five straight games.  

Heat 128, Spurs 107

Rookie Kel’el Ware matched his career high with 25 points, helping the Miami Heat defeat the San Antonio Spurs. Ware, tasked with guarding Victor Wembanyama, limited the Spurs’ star to 21 points and 10 rebounds.  

Duncan Robinson and Terry Rozier combined for 41 points off the bench, while Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 23 points in the loss.
