Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Curry’s much-anticipated comeback will be against the Wizards.
Curry was expected to miss three months after breaking his left hand in a 121-110 home loss against the Suns on October 30. It actually took him four months to come back. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently said that Curry is “looking great” and that he is in excellent condition thanks to the “brutal workouts” puts himself through.
Curry’s injury occurred after a hard fall in the second half of the game against the Suns. Curry collided with Aron Baynes and braced himself with his left hand.
The game against the Wizards will also be Curry’s first alongside new teammate Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors traded D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to the Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 protected first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick.
Wiggins is averaging 19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 32.4 minutes over five games with the Warriors. He is shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 47.8 percent on 4.6 attempts from beyond the arc. As of this writing, The Warriors are just 12-45 and in last place in the Western Conference.
Stephen Curry has played just four games this season. He was averaging 20.3 points, 6.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 28.0 minutes over those contests.
Steve Kerr had this to say about why it is important for them to get Curry back this season:
“I think it’s important for Steph and Andrew to get to know each other and to play together,” Kerr said. “I think it’s important for Steph to play without all the guys we’ve lost who are not gonna be back next year — Kevin and Andre and Shaun. With all these young guys, we’re trying to teach them on the fly and a lot of things that we have taken for granted over the last five years, we can’t take for granted anymore. Steph needs to feel that himself.”
