The Warriors would welcome Kevin Durant crawling back to them with open arms – Shannon Sharpe

Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant has requested a trade-out from the team in the ongoing offseason. However, Durant still has four years left in his contract with the Nets and thus the team could take their time to find the best possible deal.

Meanwhile, Durant had earlier played for Golden State Warriors and won two championships with the Dubs. He moved out in the 2019 season and since then hasn’t been able to go all the way in the NBA while GSW recently won their fourth title in the last eight years.

Durant was expected to make a potent trio with James Harden and Kyrie Irving but the big three of the team failed to come up with consistent performances.

NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe believes GSW would welcome Kevin Durant crawling back to them with open arms and the franchise could make a great package for Durant.

“The Warriors are the only team that can put a package that I believe will satisfy them,” Sharpe said as quoted by the Undisputed.

“It seems to me the only team that can put together a package of young talented players plus draft picks are the Warriors,” Sharpe said. “And I believe the Warriors would welcome him back, welcome Kevin Durant crawling back to them with open arms.”

Sharpe added that Warriors wouldn’t have to trade Andrew Wiggins to the Nets to make the contract as he is on a maximum rookie deal. The Nets will have to first trade out Ben Simmons for this to happen.

“Wiggins can’t be included in the package because he is already on a rookie max deal, the same as Ben Simmons,” Sharpe said. “So in order for them to get Wiggins, you would have to move Ben Simmons.”

Meanwhile, Durant averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in the previous season of the NBA but he played only 55 matches as he was recovering from an MCL injury.
