Jake Paul has called off his upcoming fixture against Tommy Fury has been cancelled. This is coming almost a week after Fury was denied the opportunity to leave his country for the United States ahead of the fight, which was supposed to hold in August.
This is the second time that the fight between the two boxers would be cancelled. The fight was earlier scheduled to happen last December until Fury pulled out after suffering a chest infection and broken rib.
According to Paul, Fury, who was served a termination notice, refused every help from Paul and his team and instead went “into hiding”: “Fury’s received a termination notice. (Promoter) MVP did everything it could to help him and team. He wasn’t interested, and he literally went into hiding,” the YouTuber said on social media.
He also announced that he would be moving ahead with a new opponent, which could be Hasim Rahman Jr, although the details are yet to be confirmed. Rahman has a record of one loss from 13 fights, with 6 knockout wins.
Fury also took to social media to explain his side of the story, saying that he was positive that the fight would still go ahead, even if it’s in a country where both parties can freely enter: “I’m gutted and disappointed in regard to the issues I have faced with entry into the USA. This is something that myself or my team could never anticipate happening.
“This situation has been left with my lawyers as being denied entry to a country is obviously a very serious issue, and it needs to subsequently be resolved.
“I am confident this fight will happen when this issue gets resolved, and we come to a solution. I want to clarify that I will fight in a neutral country that both parties can enter. This can be any time, any place, anywhere.”
