The highly anticipated boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois is set for September 21, 2024, at Wembley Stadium, where Joshua will challenge Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title. This all-British showdown marks a significant moment for both fighters, with Joshua aiming to reclaim championship glory and Dubois looking to solidify his status as a top shot in the heavyweight division.
The fight was set in motion the moment former heavyweight undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk relinquished the IBF title, making Dubois, who was interim champion, the automatic IBF title holder. Now, Dubois has a chance to really prove how much the belt means to him against one of the best men in the division.
Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) has experienced a resurgence since his losses to Oleksandr Usyk, winning four consecutive bouts against notable opponents like Jermaine Franklin and Francis Ngannou. His recent performances have seen him taking a more strategic approach, focusing on composure and precision rather than sheer aggression.
Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs), on the other hand, has rebounded impressively after suffering a stoppage loss to Joe Joyce in 2020. He captured the IBF title by defeating Filip Hrgovic in June 2024, demonstrating resilience and power that has made him a dangerous contender. Dubois’s knockout rate is impressive, with 20 of his 21 wins coming by way of KO, making him a significant threat in the ring.
Fans can expect an electrifying clash of styles: Joshua’s technical prowess and experience against Dubois’s raw power and youthful tenacity. Both fighters have expressed their intentions to secure a knockout; Dubois aims to “smash” Joshua, while Joshua focuses on completing his mission to reclaim the title.
The fight is expected to be explosive, with commentators suggesting it may not go the distance given both fighters’ knockout capabilities. The undercard features exciting matchups, including Liam Smith vs. Josh Kelly and Anthony Cacace vs. Josh Warrington, adding further intensity to the event.
