Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 reportedly being considered

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are reportedly in talks for a rematch set for 2026, a decade after their first high-profile meeting in 2015.

According to sources, including The Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger, these discussions center around staging the fight as a major event on Netflix, which has recently become the choice broadcast channel for big matches.

Their initial encounter, labelled the “Fight of the Century,” took place in May 2015 and saw Mayweather win by unanimous decision.

This bout created enormous revenue, pulling in around $600 million, with over 4 million pay-per-view buys and substantial ticket sales. Despite the result, fans remained eager for a sequel, although it never materialised until now.

The potential 2026 rematch would come more than ten years later, with both fighters well past their athletic primes.

Mayweather, who will turn 49 in February 2026, has been largely inactive in official fights since his 2017 victory over Conor McGregor, only participating in exhibition matches in recent years.

Pacquiao, who celebrated his 46th birthday in December 2024, made a return to the ring earlier in 2025 after a four-year hiatus, ending in a draw against WBC champion Mario Barrios.

Though he has plans for another fight in January 2026, there is speculation that a lucrative offer for the rematch with Mayweather could change those plans.

The rematch is reportedly not just an exhibition but is being considered as a sanctioned fight,. However, financial incentives likely play a central role given that neither fighter is expected to alter their legacy with this bout, as both are past their physical peaks.

Netflix’s involvement follows its string of success, having streamed high-profile matches such as Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson and Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez, drawing millions of viewers.

There remains uncertainty about whether Mayweather will defend his undefeated professional record, which currently stands at 50-0, or if the fight will fall somewhere between an exhibition and an official contest. Pacquiao has stated he would only consider a rematch if it were officially recognised.
