Barcelona are reportedly considering a sensational loan move for Heung-Min Son, according to reports.
The Los Angeles FC winger, who has been in outstanding form in Major League Soccer, has emerged as a top target for Barça boss Hansi Flick, who is seeking to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the second half of the 2025/26 season.
The 33-year-old South Korean forward has enjoyed a prolific spell in the MLS, netting nine goals and three assists in just ten appearances for LAFC across all competitions.
His performances have drawn attention from several European clubs, but Barcelona appear to be leading the race to secure his services on a temporary deal.
Despite his age, Son’s form and fitness suggest he remains capable of competing at the highest level.
Son, who joined Los Angeles FC after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, continues to showcase the same dynamic flair and goal-scoring instinct that made him a Premier League star.
His current contract with LAFC runs until 2027, meaning a permanent transfer may be unlikely at this stage.
However, a loan move could offer both clubs a mutually beneficial arrangement, Barcelona gaining an experienced attacker and LAFC retaining long-term control of one of their key assets.
Known for his speed, dribbling, and finishing ability, Son would bring valuable versatility to Flick’s side.
He primarily operates as a left winger, but his ability to play as a centre-forward makes him a flexible option in Barcelona’s fluid attacking system.
His experience and leadership could also benefit the club’s younger forwards, offering a balance of creativity and composure in the final third.
While questions remain about how Son would adapt to the pace and intensity of La Liga at 33, his professionalism and technical quality make him a low-risk, high-reward option for Barcelona.
The Catalan giants are currently managing a packed fixture list across multiple competitions, and adding a proven scorer could be vital in maintaining their momentum.
The proposed move could prove to be a smart short-term solution for Hansi Flick’s side. Despite being past his peak, Heung-Min Son’s experience, consistency, and eye for goal could help Barcelona stay competitive domestically and in Europe.
