Aguerd set to complete West Ham move

Indications have shown that Stade Rennais defender Nayef Aguerd could undergo his medical with West Ham United soon.

Moroccan TV station 2M revealed that the Morocco international will have his medical with the Hammers after he returns from his international duty and join the English Premier League side.

Aguerd have had an impressive run of form at Roazhon Park, and he could be a top signing for David Moyes, that will be competing in the Europa Conference League with the Hammers.

At 26, Aguerd is seen as an experienced defender who had a solid campaign in French football after putting in a run of dominant displays for Rennes on the defensive third of the pitch.

He scored four goals and made three assists in 40 matches for the French club last season across all fronts.

Born in Kenitra, the Moroccan has caught the eye by averaging 0.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 4.0 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1.

Apart from this, his ball distribution based on his pass completion is at the rate of 89% in top-flight football, according to stats revealed by who scored.

It’s believed that Aguerd could be a good signing for Moyes as he gets stuck in some crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition attackers.

Based pon what he has shown in his season with Rennes, he can a time challenge well to secure the ball back inside his half. He is also proficient at putting his strong 1.88m frame to block some goal-bound shots from the opposition.

Not minding clearing the danger when required, the Moroccan can be a threat at the other end of the field as well.

Primarily a central defender, Aguerd can also fill in as a left-back if his manager needs him to do so.

This means he will add more bite and steel to West Ham’s defensive department.
