Alan Shearer lauds Christian Eriksen’s performance against Arsenal and feels he has been an amazing signing for Manchester United

The Premier League in recent times have seen sensational ups and downs. The league saw Arsenal having a perfect start to their campaign and Manchester United struggling to secure wins. But that changed soon and now Erik ten Hag’s team came up with a solid 3-1 win over the Gunners to stop them in their tracks.

United were at their very best and it was indeed a very professional performance against a very strong team. Christian Eriksen was at the epicenter of each and every move made by the Red Devils as Marcus Rashford scored a brace and new signing Antony scored a goal on his debut.

Recently when Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer was picking his Premier League ‘Team of the Week’ he quickly picked Eriksen for his performance against Gunners. He lauded the Danish midfielder for his dominating performance in the middle of the field. He overall also shared how it was a wise decision to sign him on a free transfer. Shearer told Premier League official website, “Produced a passing masterclass. What a signing he has been!”

It has been a tough period of time for the Danish midfielder who suffered a majo life threatening incident at the European Championship. He was then away from football for a few months and finally when he was ready he joined Brentford for a six month period and showed the Premier League that he is not finished, just yet.

His spell at Brentford did spark an interest among clubs to sign him for next season. But he simply could not resist Erik ten Hag and Manchester United as they needed someone of Eriksen’s maturity and calmness on the ball and the Dane also needed a club where his performances will be noticed once again. It is like Eriksen was starting over his career once again, this time with a little bit of prior experience.

After the win against Arsenal, Erik ten Hag heaped praise on the experience midfielder as he feels that Eriksen is the one who runs the midfield and helps them switch play and also has a keen eye to look for the final passes. “He can make a game for you, make the switch of play, he sees a pass between the lines, make the final pass and go back into attack to score a goal. He can improve his defence, when he plays like today one small mistake, we’ll give him that, he played a magnificent game,” Erik ten Hag shared.
