Ancelotti remains grounded after Champions League win in Leipzig

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that qualification to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid is not secured yet, as there are 90 more minutes to go in the second leg despite their 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig on Tuesday in the first leg of their round of 16 encounters.

Los Blancos went into the game in Germany without one of their biggest stars this season, as Jude Bellingham was out with an injury. Despite soaking a lot of pressure in the first half from the home side, Real Madrid opened the scoring three minutes after the break through Brahmin Diaz.

His goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Real Madrid, but despite praising his players’ efforts, including the goal scorer, Carlo Ancelotti believes that there is still more to be done in the second leg.

“Without three centre-backs, Tchouameni played a fantastic game as a centre-back. It’s an emergency now, but we understand he’s a fantastic player in every place you put him. We played against a good team with a lot of intensity. We suffered a little bit at the start of the game, but after that, we had a bit of control and were able to score a fantastic goal with Brahim. He said.

“Then we controlled the game, but it was really difficult because Leipzig are a team that plays with a lot of intensity and not easy to manage. I think it’s a good result, but qualification is not done because we have another 90 minutes to go, but we are quite happy tonight.” Ancelloti added.

Real Madrid will face Rayo Vallecano away from home in La Liga on Sunday, and they will face Sevilla and Valencia in two more La Liga fixtures before the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 fixture against RB Leipzig on March 6.
