Andrew Robertson signs new contract with Liverpool keeping him at the club till 2026

Andrew Robertson has signed a long term contract with Liverpool penning a deal that will keep him at the club till 2026. Robertson joins the likes of Fabinho, Alisson, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk who have also signed a long term contract with the club.

The left-back joined Liverpool in 2017 from Hull City and has grown in stature under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp. Under the German tactician, Robertson has developed into one of the best left-backs in world football. He has won the Premier League and Champions League with the Reds and is planning to win more trophies by committing his future to Anfield.

The 27-year-old is currently out with a ligament problem scheduled to return before their Premier League match against Chelsea. Robertson is very happy in Merseyside hence he had no other thoughts while extending his deal. After penning the deal, he told the club’s official website, “Obviously when the negotiations started and it looked as if my future was going to be here longer term than what it was, then I think it’s no secret that I’m happy at this club.

“I want to stay at this club for as long as possible and to extend my stay, it’s always a happy time for me, for my family. We’re settled here, we love everything about this football club and I’m glad that the journey is continuing.”

The Scotland international is keen to win more trophies and accolades with the Reds in the upcoming years. He also feels a deep connection with the Liverpool faithful and even the fans feel him as one of their own. “We want to achieve more, we want to bring hopefully more trophies, more happiness to this club.

“The only way of doing that is by working hard and having the same application that we have done since day one.”

After confirming Robertson’s future at the club, Liverpool may now look at others players. The Reds have not been very active in the transfer market as they only signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig to solidify their backline.

Next up, they will look to sign a fresh contract with Mohamed Salah. The Reds are in talks with the Egyptian superstar and confirmation will come in a few days.
