Antonio Conte was diagnosed with cholecystitis and underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder. The procedure went well, and the Spurs coach is recovering.
“Thank you for your lovely messages, my surgery has gone well and I’m already feeling better,” a post on Conte’s Instagram story feed read.
“Now’s time to recover, I can’t wait to get back on the field with the team.”
It is not yet clear when Conte will be able to return to work, as he must spend some time in recovery.
Sources close to the club mention that the boss could miss the Spurs clash against AC Milan for the round of 16 of the Champions League.
Conte’s assistant coach, Cristian Stellini, is the one who is assuming the duties of commanding the team.
Stellini has already appeared at various press conferences for Premiere League, and FA Cup matches.
The Spurs seek to consolidate their position at the top of the table and fight for one of the Champions League spots.
Team star Harry Kane, for his part, is on track to surpass the late Jimmy Graves’ club record of 266 goals, which has stood for 53 years. He, too, is level with Wayne Rooney with 53 goals for England and looks set to surpass both records before the end of the campaign.
Alan Shearer’s mark of 260 Premier League goals stands as the long-term record to beat, with Kane having 199 at the moment.
But he faces stiff competition as Erling Haaland is on fire with Man City. The Norway international has thrived under Kevin De Bruyne, scoring 25 goals so far – two more than last season’s Golden Boot winners Mo Salah and Son Heung-Min scored all season. In total, Haaland has 31 goals in 26 games with City.
