Arne Slot believes in Liverpool come back against PSG

Liverpool FC manager Arne Slot has expressed strong belief that his side can produce a remarkable comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg at Anfield. 

Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Paris, Slot admitted his team must deliver a “very, very, very special” performance but insisted overturning the deficit is not impossible.

Slot pointed to Liverpool’s strong attacking record at home as a source of optimism, noting that his side have scored two or more goals in 36 of their 49 matches under his leadership. 

He stressed that while PSG are the reigning European champions, Liverpool have consistently shown they can rise to the occasion in big matches this season.

The Dutch coach confirmed he will not significantly alter his tactical approach despite the deficit. 

He emphasised the need for an aggressive, front-foot style, while also acknowledging the risks involved in pressing PSG high. 

According to Slot, Liverpool must strike the right balance between attacking intent and regaining possession, particularly after being dominated in the first leg.

Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai echoed his manager’s confidence, insisting he “completely believes” Liverpool can turn the tie around. 

He described the potential comeback as one of the biggest achievements of his career and said the squad is ready to “go all in” from the first minute, driven by their desire to reach the semi-finals.

Szoboszlai also addressed a recent misunderstanding with fans following Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester City, apologising for a gesture that was misinterpreted. 

He reaffirmed his commitment to the supporters and highlighted the importance of the Anfield atmosphere, adding that the entire stadium, not just the players, will play a crucial role on the night.

Liverpool could be boosted by the return of Curtis Jones to training, although his availability remains uncertain. 

Meanwhile, PSG have been strengthened by additional rest and the return of key players to their squad. 

With a place in the semi-finals at stake, both sides are preparing for a high-stakes encounter that could hinge on early momentum and the intensity of Liverpool’s performance.
