Arsenal and Chelsea agree on Kai Havertz move

Kai Havertz is about to join the number of players who have moved from Chelsea to Arsenal after the two teams agreed on a deal in principle to allow the German international to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz, who joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for £71m, will be moving to North London after a deal worth around £65m was agreed. The agreement will now allow the player to negotiate personal terms with the Gunners.

The 24-year-old scored nine goals in 47 games for the Blues last season, but his transfer fee could increase with add-ons.

While Arsenal are looking for ways to sign new players and bolster their squad after missing out on the Premier League title last season to Manchester City, Mikel Arteta’s side has been linked to a couple of players this summer, including Ilkay Gundogan and West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

While the German midfielder is on the verge of joining Barcelona, West Ham United have rejected Arsenal’s first two bids due to some terms and conditions despite the £90M price tag. The Hammers are not happy with the payment pattern and time of Arsenal and are also holding out for a possible better deal from Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Chelsea are hoping to offload some players this summer with a midfielder, France international N’Golo Kante, 32, has agreed to sign for Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad when his contract expires at the end of June.

Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic, 29, is on the verge of joining Manchester City after agreeing a £30m. Havertz had two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge but didn’t agree on an extension at the club.

The Blues themselves have brought in French forward Christopher Nkuku from RB Leipzig, while Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is moving to Asia.
