Arsenal legend Ray Parlour highly impressed with Martin Odegaard and feels he is ideal for any manager

Arsenal are looking like a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming Premier League season. The Gunners have secured the services of some very utility players who have joined from the champion team where they used to play in integral roles so they will bring that winning mentality and experience. Similarly the existing players who have been working hard under Mikel Arteta are also looking to improve themselves for the coming season. Ahead of the upcoming season, former Arsenal man Ray Parlour shared how he has been impressed with Martin Odegaard.

The club legend shared how the Norwegian midfielder is a real example for other players and he is very happy to see him in the Arsenal outfit. Odegaard since his arrival from Real Madrid has impressed under Mikel Arteta’s system. He is the midfield lynchpin and the creative nucleus of this team and he has settled pretty well to life in North London.

Starting from hius elegance with the ball to his character when on the pitch, he has impressed everyone at the club and they feel a winner’s mentality whenever they look at him. He will be a very vital cog in Arteta’s plans this summer as they look to get back to Champions League football for next season.

Parlour is very impressed with the Norwegian midfielder not only in matches but also in training sessions. Therefore the Arsenal legend told talkSPORT, “Odegaard, you see him in training. He is always on the ball. He’s a real example that they love their football. They can’t wait to get him out of the training field.”

Odegaard was heavily involved in contributing as he scored seven times and provided five assists. He is keen on improving that aspect of his game aswell. Parlour shares how he is the ideal player for any manager as they want to see their players hungry and raring to achieve more. Odegaard has that aura where he pushes towards perfection.

“That’s what you want as a manager. You want players that are really hungry to train hard and I have seen that when I was watching a couple of training sessions. You can see that they are really at it,” the Arsenal legend added.

Arteta’s men have had a great pre-season as they have won all four of their games and are eager to replicate that performance in the Premier League. The Gunners have made some moves in the transfer window as well as they have signed a terrific duo from Manchester City of Gabriel Jesus and Olekandr Zinchenko. Apart from the two high profile signings they have roped in the highly talented attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, teenage sensation Marquinhos from Sao Paulo and American goalkeeper Matt Turner from Major League Soccer outfit New England Evolution. With more players set to join, Arsenal are looking like a formidable force heading into the new season.
