At Camp Nou, Messi will never be whistled – Ex-Barcelona president Gaspart

Former Barcelona president Gaspart reckons Lionel Messi will never be whistled while playing at Camp Nou. Messi was recently booed by PSG Saint-Germain’s fans during their recent match against Lyon, in which the Parisian club suffered a 1-0 loss at home.

PSG was also knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich after their 3-0 loss in the Round-of-16. Meanwhile, Messi played 778 matches for Barcelona and scored 672 goals and provided 288 assists in his glorious career. Furthermore, the legendary player won 34 trophies with the club.

The talisman spent 17 years at Blaugrana and played an instrumental role in taking the club to new heights as he grew as a player. Gaspart compared Messi’s homecoming to Barcelona to Diego Maradona coming back to life.

Gaspart said (via Barca Universal): “Messi returning to Barcelona would be like Maradona coming back to life and playing for Barcelona at the age of 25. At Camp Nou, Messi will never be whistled.”

“I would have liked Messi to never leave Barcelona and not now to try to bring him back. Personally, I would be passionate about Messi returning to Barcelona. I would like him to sign for life with Barcelona, as an ambassador.

“It’s secondary whether he plays or not, but for me, the human side and the person is more important. Let him return in whatever capacity he wants.”

Meanwhile, as per reports by Fabrizio Romano, the Argentina captain has received a massive €400 million offer from the Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

Messi’s contract with PSG Saint-Germain will end at the end of the ongoing season in June. PSG are currently at the top of Ligue 1 and they will next face Nice on Saturday night.
