Barcelona complete Karim Adeyemi signing from Borussia Dortmund

Barcelona have completed the signing of Germany international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract, securing the forward’s services until June 2031.

The La Liga champions reportedly paid an initial €29 million, with additional performance-related add-ons included in the agreement, as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 24-year-old becomes Barcelona’s second signing of the summer transfer window after Anthony Gordon.

Adeyemi arrives to reinforce Hansi Flick’s attacking options following the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski and the conclusion of Marcus Rashford’s loan spell.

Known for his pace and versatility, the German can operate across the front line as both a winger and central striker.

Adeyemi leaves Borussia Dortmund after four seasons, having scored 36 goals in 146 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

He played a key role in Dortmund’s run to the 2024 UEFA Champions League final and established himself as one of the club’s most influential attacking players during his time at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken said the decision to sell the forward was made after the player indicated his desire to move to Camp Nou.

With Adeyemi entering the final year of his contract, Ricken explained that the transfer represented the best outcome for both parties while wishing the player and his family success in the next chapter of his career.

Adeyemi also paid tribute to Borussia Dortmund, thanking the club, his teammates, and supporters for their backing during his four-year stay.

He described his time in Germany as unforgettable and expressed gratitude to everyone associated with the club while wishing Dortmund success in the future.

The move also reunites Adeyemi with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who handed the forward his senior Germany debut in 2021.

Barcelona are expected to continue their activity in the transfer market, with reports linking the club to Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez. In contrast, preparations continue for the defence of their La Liga title in the 2026/27 campaign.
