Barcelona is reportedly eyeing 16-year-old Croatian defensive prodigy, Luka Vuskovic. However, they are not the only ones vying for his signature as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed interest.
Despite his young age, Vuskovic has already made his debut for Hajduk Split, a Croatian outfit, and has scored one goal in six senior appearances. He has also played for the club’s Under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League, scoring two goals in four matches.
Standing at 1.93m tall, Vuskovic has already shown his potential as a central defender, although he is also capable of playing in the defensive midfield position. With his ball-playing abilities and game-reading, Vuskovic is a promising talent that has caught the attention of top clubs across Europe.
Barcelona is among those interested in the Croatian prodigy, as they are looking for young talent with great potential across the globe to bolster their academy ranks and produce stars for the future from within the club. This approach has seen them sign Lucas Roman in January and look at other talented prospects such as 17-year-old Brazilian forward Kaua Elias and Argentine prodigy Gianluca Prestianni, among others.
However, Barcelona will have to compete with Paris Saint-Germain, whose director Luis Campos is reportedly pushing for the teenager’s signing. Meanwhile, Manchester City is also said to be strongly interested in Vuskovic and is currently the best-placed Premier League team to sign him.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona’s interest in Vuskovic will lead to anything substantial. Still, it’s clear that this 16-year-old defender has caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, and his future in the game looks bright.
