Barcelona Weighs Future of Pau Victor Amid Summer Transfer Plans

Barcelona is exploring player sales this summer to finance the signing of a new left winger, and one name that has surfaced as a potential departure is 23-year-old forward Pau Victor. Signed from Girona less than a year ago, Victor’s future at the club appears uncertain despite an encouraging debut season.

Originally brought in with limited expectations, Victor ended up featuring 29 times across all competitions for the Catalan giants. He found the back of the net twice in La Liga, scoring against Osasuna and Mallorca. However, his influence waned during the second half of the campaign, sparking speculation about a potential exit in search of regular playing time.

According to reports, the young striker is eager to secure more consistent minutes during the 2025-26 season, leading to significant interest from other Spanish clubs. While this has opened the door to possible transfers, Barcelona’s reported asking price of €20 million could prove a stumbling block for clubs interested in a permanent deal. Notably, the club acquired Victor for approximately €3 million last summer, making the steep markup a potential deal-breaker for some suitors.

Despite the transfer chatter, Barcelona is not actively looking to part ways with Victor. His work ethic and professionalism have reportedly left a strong impression on new head coach Hansi Flick and his staff. “Victor impressed the coaching team with his attitude despite limited opportunities last season,” a source close to the club shared.

As a result, a loan move is currently being considered as the more favorable option. Such an arrangement would allow Victor to gain the valuable playing time he seeks while keeping him on Barcelona’s books. This approach also aligns with the club’s long-term view, preserving a potential asset who may yet fulfill his promise at the highest level.

However, with Barcelona actively pursuing a new attacking option, competition for forward positions is expected to intensify. This likely means even fewer opportunities for Victor, making an exit—temporary or permanent—increasingly probable before the summer transfer window closes.

Victor’s future remains one to watch closely as Barcelona seeks to balance squad development with financial pragmatism. Whether he stays, goes on loan, or departs permanently, the coming weeks will be decisive for both the player and the club.
