Bayern Munich have set their sight on attacking reinforcements during the next transfer window.
They brought down the average age of their attack last summer by signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
Bayern also wanted to sign Désiré Doué and Xavi Simons but couldn’t get the deals over the line for both players.
The Bavarian club remains keen on adding a couple of young forwards to the squad.
They will keep working on a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen during the second half of the season.
It is not an easy deal to execute since Leverkusen are determined to keep him away from Bavaria.
Meanwhile, Bayern are also looking to add a new winger to the squad. Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens is one of their top targets for the wide position.
According to reports, Bayern also have Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams on their list of targets for the summer.
The 22-year-old winger was one of the best players in last summer’s Euros in Germany.
Williams helped Spain lift the Euros last summer. He was expected to leave Bilbao in the summer, with FC Barcelona showing concrete interest in the winger.
However, the 22-year-old had a change of heart and decided to stay one more season in Bilbao. Bayern were also loosely linked with Williams in the summer.
The Spanish winger reportedly has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract. Even though his form has dipped a bit this season, Williams will generate significant interest from several clubs if he decides to leave Bilbao next summer.
Although Bayern certainly have solid targets on the list to enhance Kompany’s attacking options.
For now, Bayern chiefs will focus on contract extensions in January. There will be clarity around the future of Leroy Sane during the second half of the season. Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are not leaving Munich in January, but there is a concrete chance of them leaving in the summer.
The next summer’s transfer plans in the attack will depend on what happens with the three senior wingers.
The Bavarians will have to balance the books. If they perform exceptionally well during the second half of the season, Bayern may have to seriously consider the thought of delaying the signing of a new winger next summer.
