Celtic player suffers injury ahead of Boxing Day clash against Motherwell

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the team could be without a fourth key player for their Boxing Day match against Motherwell and possibly beyond.

Nicolas Kuhn remains a significant injury doubt after missing the weekend’s draw. This uncertainty also casts a shadow over his availability for upcoming fixtures against St Johnstone and Rangers.

Kuhn’s absence would be a considerable setback for Celtic, especially since the team was already missing Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, and right-back Alistair Johnston during their recent match. The 24-year-old German has made a substantial impact this season, contributing 11 goals in as many Scottish Premiership appearances, with five goals and six assists.

Speaking to the media, Rodgers talked about Kuhn’s importance to the team, describing him as a dynamic player who embodies the qualities Celtic seek. He noted, “He has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play. He has a real attacking intent, great pace and ideas, the ability to create and score goals, and a tremendous energy and work ethic.”

The winger’s knack for causing chaos from his right-wing position is a significant asset for the Hoops, particularly due to his skill in cutting inside onto his lethal left foot. Having him available for the festive fixtures would be a massive boost to their title hopes.

Celtic experienced a rare off day in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, managing only a 0-0 draw away to Dundee United. This result allowed Rangers to close the gap in the title race to nine points following their 1-0 victory over Dundee.

On Boxing Day, Celtic will host Motherwell at Parkhead, a fixture that holds traditional significance in British football. It presents an opportunity for the Hoops to return to winning form. However, Motherwell, currently fourth in the Scottish Premiership, have been in good form, securing seven points from their last three matches. This suggests that the match could be a challenging test for Celtic as they aim to maintain their lead in the title race.
