Bayern Munich knocks PSG out of the Champions League

German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich made light work of French side Paris Saint-Germain as the Bundesliga giants got a 2-0 victory on Wednesday night and a 3-0 win on aggregate to move to the quarter-final stages of the UEFA Champions League ahead of the league one side.

Bayern Munich defeated PSG last week 1-0 in Paris, but the second leg was already made more difficult for PSG after the confirmation of Neymar’s injury, which keeps him out of the rest of the season.

Although the French had Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to bank on, they failed to get the job done over two legs as PSG failed to find the back of the net in 180 minutes.

In Bavaria, at the Allianz Arena, the first half ended goalless between both sides but the early minutes of the second half showed the signs of things to come in the half when Eric Choupo-Moting thought he opened the scoring in the 55th minute.

While the goal was ruled out by the VAR, the Cameroonian would later score the opening goal after he benefited from a defensive error from Paris Saint-Germain to tap into the net in the 61st minute.

A 1-0 scoreline was good enough to see Bayern Munich through, but they still went on to put the icing on the cake, with Serge Gnabry scoring the second goal of the night in the 89th minute and ensuring a 3-0 win on aggregate.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur was unable to get the needed results when they faced AC Milan in the second leg of the round of 16 fixture at White Hart Lane.

The kick-off was delayed for 15 minutes due to traffic issues around the stadium, but the rest of the game went on without issues.

Tottenham couldn’t get the goals after losing the first leg 1-0 in Milan. They needed two unanswered goals at home, but they have now knocked out of the competition after a goalless draw on Wednesday.
