Bayern Munich are preparing an enhanced offer for Liverpool’s winger Luis Diaz, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. However, they’ve also identified an alternative if the deal falls through.
Vincent Kompany has pinpointed Diaz, aged 28, as a prime target. Bayern’s initial £58.5million bid was turned down by Liverpool.
The Colombian star is open to a move to Bavaria, reportedly agreeing verbally to a four-year deal worth £230,000 per week—a significant jump from his current £55,000 weekly wage at Liverpool.
Diaz, while not a guaranteed starter, remains vital for Liverpool, contributing 13 goals and five assists in 36 Premier League matches last season. Liverpool, with Diaz contracted until 2027, are reluctant to let him go.
Bayern are set to test their resolve with a new bid, though they’re hesitant to meet Liverpool’s €100million (£87m/$116m) valuation.
Should negotiations stall, Bayern have Lyon’s promising winger Malick Fofana, 20, as a backup option. Fofana impressed last season, recording 12 goals and six assists across all competitions, showcasing world-class potential.
The decision lies with Liverpool, who are under no pressure to sell due to Diaz’s long-term contract. Bayern’s reluctance to match the asking price could complicate matters, potentially shifting their focus to Fofana.
It remains uncertain whether Bayern can persuade Liverpool to part with their key winger, but the coming weeks will be crucial in determining Diaz’s future.
As the transfer window progresses, Bayern’s pursuit of Diaz underscores their ambition to bolster their attacking options under Kompany’s leadership.
Whether they secure Diaz or pivot to Fofana, Bayern are determined to add flair and dynamism to their squad for the upcoming Bundesliga campaign.
