Premier League will on Thursday reveal the fixtures for the 2020-21 English Premier League season.
According to reports, the new season will run between the 12th of September and the 23rd of May 2021, with the season being five weeks shorter than it used to be.
Furthermore, the winter break has been scrapped so as to accommodate the congested fixture calendar. Also, English teams who played in the latter stages of the European competitions will have a delayed start to the new season.
This applies to both Manchester clubs as United got the semi-finals of the Europa League before losing to Sevilla 2-1.
Manchester City, on the other hand, were quarterfinals losers against Olympique Lyon 3-1.
However, Wolves, who lost to Sevilla in the quarterfinals, will play on the first weekend of the new season.
Nevertheless, the opening fixtures for City and United will be released with those of the rest of the opening day, but it will be adjusted to a later date.
It was agreed among Premier League clubs to allow clubs to have at least 30 days of rest from their last game of the 2019-20 season before their first match of the new season.
Liverpool won the 2019-20 English Premier League title, and Manchester City finished second with Watford, Bournemouth, and Norwich City, all relegating into the championship.
Leeds United, Fulham, and Brantford got promoted to the top flight. The fixtures release for the championships will be done on Thursday as well.
Meanwhile, fixtures for the Carabao Cup have been revealed with Norwich City set to face Luton Town in one of the first games.
On the international scene, UEFA Nations League matches for September will be played behind closed doors even though some of the European nations stated they were comfortable with having some crowds into the stadiums.
