Napoli have confirmed the signing of centre-back Sam Beukema on a permanent transfer as Victor Osimhen is set to complete his move to Galatasaray.
Beukema joined the Serie A champions from fellow Serie A side Bologna on a five-year contract worth a reported €3m per season in wages.
With his contract set to run until the summer of 2030, Napoli agreed to pay a total sum of €30m, including bonuses, for the Dutchman’s services.
Napoli had initially bolstered their squad with the signings of Kevin De Bruyne, Luca Marianucci, Noa Lang, and Lorenzo Lucca. Beukema thus becomes Napoli’s fifth new signing of the summer transfer window.
The announcement, according to custom of the club, was first made by President Aurelio De Laurentiis with a tweet that read ‘Benvenuto Sam’ before the announcement came from the club’s official channels.
The 26-year-old defender who joined Bologna from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 spent two seasons at the club before moving to Napoli.
During his two-year spell in Emilia-Romagna with Bologna, he made 80 appearances across all competitions.
It could be said that the Partonopei made a good signing, that is third on the list of defenders with more passes in the Serie A.
He is behind Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Evan Ndicka in terms of passes over the last two seasons.
Bologna, in a farewell message, expressed appreciation to the Dutchman, wishing him the best in his career in the future.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray will soon complete the signing of Victor Osimhen after both clubs reached an agreement for his transfer.
The Nigerian international had a successful loan spell in Istanbul during the 2024-25 season, where he led them to the League and FA Cup titles, and emerged as the highest goal scorer with 37 goals and eight assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.
Galatasaray will pay the full €75m release clause that had been valid in Osimhen’s contract in the first half of July.
This will finally put an end to his relationship with the club he led to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
