Benzema certain Real Madrid can get the job done against PSG

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema believes the Los Blancos can get a victory when they travel to Paris to face Paris St Germain in the first leg round of sixteen of the UEFA Champions League fixture on Tuesday.

Both sides last met in November 2019 in the group stage of the competition in a 2-2 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Benzema getting the brace in that game.

However, this time around there are bigger stakes, with the quarter-finals slot available for the winner on aggregate. Also, the atmosphere is expected to be tense as Kylian Mbappe will be the major focus of the tie with his unshaken wish to move to Real Madrid in the summer.

Meanwhile, Sergio Ramos will not be facing his previous side due to the Spanish defender’s injury proving an obstacle.

However, Karim Benzema stated he’s been doing his bit to ensure he is part of the team and also part of the starting eleven.

“I have been working in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings in order to try to get back to play. I want to help my team in this huge match. I don’t think there is over-dependence on me. The team has won matches without me too. I have done all I can to be here and I hope to be at 100 percent to play tomorrow” Benzema said.

Karim Benzema has been a huge part of Real Madrid’s season so far scoring 17 goals and seven assists in 21 La Liga games this season. He also has five UEFA Champions League goals in five UEFA Champions League matches he has been involved in this season for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid was held to a 0-0 draw by Villarreal in their last game in the La Liga at the weekend. The other UEFA Champions League game on Tuesday is Sporting Lisbon hosting Manchester City in Portugal. The Citizens are in top form after beating Norwich City 4-0 at the weekend in the Premier League courtesy of a Raheem Sterling hattrick.
