Bournemouth Reject Chelsea’s £64m Bid for Alex Scott, Stand Firm on Midfielder’s Future

Bournemouth have turned down a £64 million offer from Chelsea for midfielder Alex Scott, making it clear that they have no intention of selling one of their key players during the current transfer window.

The Premier League club also informed Chelsea that any further approaches for the 22-year-old would not be welcomed. Bournemouth’s position remains firm despite Scott’s contract situation, with the England Under-21 international having rejected a new deal that has been on the table for at least two months.

Scott, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 in a £25 million move, has two years remaining on his existing contract. While uncertainty surrounds his long-term future after declining fresh terms, the Cherries have consistently maintained that he will remain at the club. That message has been delivered publicly, directly to the player, and to clubs showing interest in signing him.

Chelsea are not the only side to have tracked Scott this summer. Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all expressed interest in the midfielder during the transfer window. Earlier this summer, Arsenal also had an approach for Scott rejected by Bournemouth.

Despite attracting widespread attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, Bournemouth are in a strong financial position and under no pressure to sell. The club secured qualification for the Europa League and strengthened their finances through significant player sales last summer, including the departures of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Outtara.

That financial stability has allowed Bournemouth to adopt a firm stance over the futures of several highly rated players. The club are also determined to keep hold of forward Junior Kroupi, who has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Brazil international Rayan is also expected to remain on the south coast. The forward, who only joined Bournemouth in January, has given no indication that he is seeking a move away from the club.

With Bournemouth standing firm over Scott and other sought-after players, the club appear determined to retain the core of their squad as they prepare for a campaign that includes European football, resisting growing interest from rival Premier League clubs.
