Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers claims Harry Maguire will be staying at the club for now as none of his suitors have met the club’s valuation.
The England international is wanted by both Manchester United and Manchester City but neither club have tempted Leicester into a deal. The Red Devils have reportedly had a bid of £70million rejected and Rodgers is determined to carry on as usual as he fine tunes his squad.
He named Maguire in his team for Leicester’s friendly win over Scunthorpe on Tuesday, with the Foxes winning 1-0. The defender is set to remain with the club for the foreseeable future, with Rodgers refusing to back down at present.
When asked about the interest in Maguire, Rodgers told reporters: “Harry’s a top quality player and no-one has come near the valuation to tempt the club to sell.
“The other club interested is a huge club, but he’s a really good guy. I’ve been in this position a number of times and it’s never easy but he’s taken part in everything and hasn’t showed anything other than sheer professionalism.
“You’ve seen that tonight with the 45 minutes he played. The club have been very good. If we lose him, we’d have a number of targets we’d look at.”
Leicester will be hoping Maguire remains with the club for at least another season and Rodgers’ men get the new campaign underway against Wolves. The Foxes are 2.38 to win, with the draw 3.30, while Wolves are 3.10 to grab an away victory at the King Power Stadium.
