Celtic and Rangers still inseparable in Scottish Prem

Dafabet sponsored Glasgow Celtic still holds the top spot of the Scottish Premiership after 14 rounds. The Glasgow side has collected 37 points with a record of 12 wins, one draw and one loss. Remarkably, the challengers Glasgow Rangers are at exactly same pace, with similar record and even more astonishingly, almost identical goal difference to go with it. Celtic has scored 44 goals and conceded eight, while Rangers has scored 43 and conceded, yes, you guessed it, eight.

The separation between the teams came on the first of September, when Celtic visited Rangers and took a 0-2 win. After that, Rangers have not lost a game in the Premiership, while Celtic then went on to stumble and fall at Livingston to even up the points once again. As the goal difference suggests, both teams have been impressive and have never really given any other team a chance to challenge for the title. The closest rival for the Glasgow duo is currently Aberdeen, with 28 points in 15 games and a nine point deficit already.

Celtic visited Ross County on Sunday to keep up the pace, while Rangers hosted Hearts at Glasgow. Both top clubs performed as expected, with Rangers banging in five goals with a clean sheet and Celtic running away with a clear 1-4 victory and all three points. Celtic’s hero was once again the dynamic midfielder Ryan Christie, who scored twice in the first half to up his total tally to eight goals in the Premiership seson. Christie then added an assist to Tom Rogic 1-3 goal on 67th minute to take his assist total to five. Youngster Michael Johnston scored for the second game in a row coming in from the substitutes bench and this time it took only a minute until he found the net on 73rd. Hosts Ross Stewart had given Ross County a glimmer of hope in the first half by tying it to 1-1 on 24th minute, but Caltic never looked like losing: they held the possession for 70% of the game, shot seven times on goal and held Ross County to two efforts.

With another impressive win, Neil Lennon’s men held up their top spot – but the pressure is constant from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers. The teams go head-to-head in the League Cup playoffs on 8th of December and then play a crucial derby to finish off the year on 29th December.
