According to recent reports emanating from Scotland, Celtic are looking to sign Motherwell ace Liam Donnelly.
Reports have it that the Scottish Champions are secret admirers and have been monitoring the young Irishman intending to sign him this month.
The news surfaced after many attempts of signing Donnelly teammate David Turnbull. And this has raised some eyebrows as regarding if Celtic has changed their mind on the player to sign from Motherwell.
The young lad [Donnelly] has been having a brilliant first half of the season for his club and has recorded nine goals and two assists in 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
A quick look at the statistics, it is an incredible achievement for the midfielder in a league which his team Motherwell has been performing well lately.
A local news outlet claims Hoops manager, who is also an Irish wants to snap up Donnelly before the end of the January transfer window.
However, Celtic are not the only suitors as there are a host of other clubs eyeing the lad. To acquire Donnelly services, Celtic have to take a quick action in the market to secure his signature.
Liam Donnelly has previously played youth football with Dungannon before moving south to a lower league. He finally joined Motherwell in 2018, after a spell with Hartlepool from Premier League side; Fulham’s Academy system.
If Donnelly finally makes a move to Celtic, it will provide some competition in midfield for the likes of aging Scott Brown, Oliver Ntcham, Callum McGregor, and a host of other players in that midfield position.
His [Donnelly] arrival will boost the Hoops midfield ranks and also cover whenever any of the midfielders are injured.
