Celtic weigh Greg Taylor return as left-back search continues

Celtic are increasingly being linked with a move to bring former defender Greg Taylor back to Parkhead as the club continues its search for a left-back to compete with Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish champions have seen reported interest in Marcelo Saracchi, James Penrice and Will Ferry fail to develop, leaving them still looking to strengthen the position before the transfer window closes.

Taylor has emerged as a potential option after Greek journalist George Tsarouchas reported that the 28-year-old is no longer part of PAOK’s plans and could leave the club this summer, although no agreement with Celtic is in place.

The report also claims another Scottish club is monitoring Taylor’s situation as uncertainty over his future in Greece continues.

Taylor joined Celtic from Kilmarnock in 2019 and went on to make 216 appearances, score nine goals and help the club win 11 major trophies under Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

The Scotland international left Parkhead in 2025 after his contract expired, choosing to continue his career with PAOK following Tierney’s return to Glasgow.

His first season in Greece proved difficult, with Taylor making only 18 appearances in all competitions and struggling to establish himself as a regular starter.

Reports that he has fallen out of favour at PAOK have increased speculation that a return to Scottish football could now be a realistic possibility.

Taylor’s familiarity with Celtic’s style of play, experience in the Scottish Premiership and homegrown status could make him an attractive option as the club evaluates its remaining transfer targets.

Whether Celtic decide to make a formal move remains unclear, but Taylor’s future is expected to remain a talking point while the summer transfer window stays open.
