Champions League: Inzaghi prepares for Benfica despite Inter’s bad form

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi hopes his squad’s togetherness will help them gate a good result in Portugal as they prepare to face Benfica in the Champions League quarter-final tonight.

The Nerazzurri are yet to record a single win in six consecutive matches across all competitions. They were recently held to a 1-1 ar Salernitana, where they won 5-0 last season.

The run of results have piled pressure on Inzaghi as he could be in danger of losing his job, with a list of potential candidates from across Europe to replace him in the summer.

Although Inter are in the last eight of the Champions League after a 1-0 aggregate win against Porto, Inzaghi believes his me will have to be at their best to overcome Benfica at the Estadio da Luz.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday evening, Inzaghi pointed out that it will be challenging for his team against a strong, quality opponent, but togetherness can help in the next two months, starting with Benfica.

The former Lazio manager noted that 5he goal was to still be in all competitions in April since they are not doing well in the league, but there is still the chance to fight back.

Describing Benfica as an excellent team like Porto, Inzaghi noted that they dominate their league.

He predicted it would be a match where there would be moments to be offensive and others defensive, as they would have to play a game with a good head and heart.

He further described 5he visitors as an excellent team on an excellent journey in the Champions League and domestic league.

“They have quality, technical players; they occupy spaces very well, in and out of possession,” he added.

Having knocked out their fellow Portuguese side, it’s left to see how Benfica will react when they welcome their visitors tonight.
