Champions League last-16 draw: Everything you need to know

The Champions League last-16 draw is set to take place on Friday, February 21, at 11:00 GMT. The draw will determine which teams will face each other in the next stage of the competition.

The seeded teams, which include Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, will be drawn against the unseeded teams. Teams from the same country can meet each other at any point in the competition. The away goals rule, which was abolished at the start of the 2021-22 season, will not be in effect.

Liverpool, who finished first in their group, will face either Paris St-Germain or Benfica in the last 16. Arsenal, who also topped their group, will play either Feyenoord or PSV. Aston Villa, meanwhile, will face either Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund.

The draw will also determine which half of the draw each team will be in. The winners of each tie will advance to the quarterfinals, with the final taking place in Munich on May 31. The Champions League format has been expanded this season, with 36 teams competing in the group stage.

England is currently leading the way in the coefficient rankings, with six of its seven teams reaching the last 16 across all three UEFA competitions. Spain and Italy are also in contention for an extra Champions League spot next season.

The Champions League has seen some thrilling matches so far this season, with several teams already booking their place in the last 16. The draw on Friday will add another layer of excitement to the competition as fans eagerly await the next stage of the tournament.

The Champions League last-16 draw will be followed by the Europa League and Conference League draws. The Europa League draw will take place at 12:00 GMT, while the Conference League draw will occur at 13:00 GMT. Fans can catch all the action as the road to the Champions League final continues to unfold.
