Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso scored as Chelsea beat Burnley 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League game.
The win is the Blue’s first since Thomas Tuchel got appointed as their new manager after the dismissal of Frank Lampard.
Tuchel’s first game came on Wednesday against Wolverhampton, but the game played at Stamford Bridge ended 0-0.
Spanish defender, Azpilicueta scored the opening goal five minutes before the break. The game was not sealed off until the 84th minute when Marcos Alonso scored from a Christian Pulisic’s assist.
The win leaves Chelsea in the seventh position with 33 points from 21 Premier League matches, but the Blues are 6 points away from the last Champions League spot occupied by Leicester City with 39 points.
Meanwhile, Burnley’s impressive form of three wins on the run comes to an end with the defeat. Sean Dyche’s men have beaten Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, Fulham 3-0 in the FA Cup and a 3-2 come back victory against Aston Villa before Sunday’s game.
The defeat leaves the Clarets in 16 with 22 points from 20 games.
Meanwhile, Liverpool continues their return to winning ways with their second win in two consecutive matches with a 3-1 win over West Ham at the London stadium.
Despite missing seven first-team players due to injury, Jurgen Klopp’s side got all three points to move into the third position and within four points of Manchester City in the first position, albeit Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
After a goalless first half, Sadio Mane scored a brace within ten minutes, with his first coming in the 57th minute.
Gini Wijnaldum scored Liverpool’s third in the 84th minute before Craig Dawson scored a consolation for the hosts three minutes later.
Brighton defeated Tottenham 1-0 with a 17th-minute goal from Leandro Trossard, while Leicester City lost 3-1 at home to Leeds United.
