Chelsea not hijacking Nordi Mukiele to PSG deal

Reports have emerged that Chelsea is not making any attempt to hijack the move of  RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old is a huge potential because of his utility nature. The Frenchman can play in several positions. He had played as both right wing-back and centre-back for the Bundesliga club.

The Blues have been in the market for defensive reinforcements since the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in the summer.

Although the Blues have been able to bring Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for a fee of £34 million, Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in further reinforcements.

The Senegalese skipper played some minutes in a Chelsea shirt against the Gunners.

They were linked with former Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt. However, he was their primary target but opted to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Chelsea were also hoping for the return of Nathan Ake but refused to meet the £50 million valuation of the 27-year-old Dutchman.

The latest on their list is Sevilla’s Jules Kounde. However, it now appears that they might not sign the Frenchman because Barcelona is close to signing him.

But it was recently reported that Chelsea is trying to hijack a deal between PSG and RB Leipzig for Mukiele. The report also said Chelsea were keen to include Timo Werner in a deal as they look to move on their striker this summer.

But the latest report by Sky Germany says the defender was about to complete his deal to sign for the Ligue 1 champions PSG.

The report further stated that it was ‘simply too late’ for the Blues to make an attempt to sign the defender.

Meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol, Milan Skriniar, and Presnel Kimpembe are other alternatives.

If the Blues fail to sign another center-back, they might struggle throughout the upcoming season as there is no guarantee that the trio may not be available this summer.

The defensive options the Blues have at the moment include as Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Kalidou Koulibaly, Malang Sarr, Ethan Ampadu and Levi Colwill.
