Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is actively reforming the team, parting ways with players like Mount, Pulisic, Azpilicueta, and Havertz to shape his vision for the club. One of his key targets is midfielder Moisés Caicedo, who is currently training with Brighton in their preseason.
However, Chelsea’s pursuit of Caicedo has hit roadblocks. Reports from England indicate that Brighton is demanding no less than £100 million for the Ecuadorian talent and has already turned down offers from Chelsea.
While the transfer saga continues, Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton’s coach, has weighed in on the situation. While the squad is on tour in the United States, De Zerbi has hinted that Caicedo may still stay with the Seagulls.
“At the moment Moises is a Brighton player,” De Zerbi said ahead of Chelsea and Brighton friendly in the United States.
“I spoke with Tony Bloom and he told me if the conditions don’t change, Moises stays with us.
For me it should be great news because it is difficult to find another player like Moises.”
He continued: “There are two questions. Not only about Caicedo, also about Colwill, and maybe it can be [a swap].
I would like to play with Caicedo and Colwill together but at the moment I can only speak about Caicedo as Colwill is not one of my players.”
The uncertainty surrounding Caicedo’s future has kept fans and pundits intrigued, eager to see if Chelsea will secure the young midfielder’s services. As negotiations continue and the preseason unfolds, all eyes will be on Chelsea and Brighton to see how the story unfolds for Moisés Caicedo.
