Concern grows over Daizen Maeda injury after Celtic win

Daizen Maeda’s exit at full-time during Celtic’s victory over Hibernian immediately sparked worry among fans and observers alike.

The Japanese winger was visibly hobbling as he left the pitch with his boot already removed, a sight that suggested far more than a minor knock.

In a tight race for silverware, any setback to a key player like Maeda feels magnified, and the images did little to ease growing anxiety.

Maeda has emerged as one of Celtic’s most influential attackers in recent weeks. His pace, work rate, and clinical finishing have added a new dimension to the team’s play.

In this match at Easter Road, he continued that fine form by opening the scoring, reinforcing his central role in Martin O’Neill’s attacking setup.

His contributions have often proved decisive in big moments, making his potential absence a significant concern at this critical stage of the campaign.

The lack of immediate clarity from the Celtic manager only heightened the tension. O’Neill offered no detailed update straight after the game, leaving supporters to speculate about the severity of the issue.

When he did address the situation, the boss was quick to highlight Maeda’s importance, stressing how heavily the team relies on the forward’s energy and quality.

That honest admission carried weight, given Celtic’s dependence on their front-line performers to maintain momentum in both league and cup competitions.

The combination of the visible discomfort, Maeda’s elevated status in the squad, and the high stakes of the season created a moment that appeared particularly ominous.

While caution remains necessary, the hope is that Maeda’s issue proves manageable rather than a long-term blow.

Celtic will be eager for positive news on his recovery as they push for success on multiple fronts.
