Cleveland Cavaliers delivered a dominant second-half performance to defeat the Toronto Raptors 114-102 in a decisive Game 7, clinching their place in the Eastern Conference semifinals after a tightly contested first-round series.
With the series tied 3-3 and even the aggregate score locked at 669-669 after six games, the showdown lived up to its billing early on, as both teams entered halftime level. But Cleveland quickly seized control after the break. Closing the first half on an 11-2 run and opening the third quarter with an 11-1 burst, the Cavaliers built a commanding lead that the Raptors could not recover from.
At the heart of Cleveland’s victory was Jarrett Allen, who produced a standout all-around performance. The center recorded 22 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, dominating the paint on both ends. His third-quarter display proved decisive, as he piled up 14 points and 10 rebounds to swing momentum firmly in Cleveland’s favor.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson praised Allen’s impact, calling it one of his finest performances. Cleveland’s dominance on the boards was evident, outrebounding Toronto 60-33 and converting second-chance opportunities into a significant scoring advantage.
While Allen led the charge, Cleveland received key contributions across the roster. Donovan Mitchell scored 22 points, with 15 coming in the second half, while James Harden added 18 points, including a strong showing from the free-throw line. Support also came from Evan Mobley, Max Strus and others, highlighting the team’s depth.
Toronto, despite the loss, found encouragement in the performance of Scottie Barnes. The All-Star forward capped an impressive series with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Game 7, continuing to establish himself as the franchise’s cornerstone.
The Raptors’ season ends with signs of progress after a significant improvement in wins, but injuries to key players such as Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley limited their full potential in the playoffs.
Cleveland now advances to face the top-seeded Detroit Pistons in the semifinals, with Game 1 set to take place in Detroit. As the Cavaliers prepare for a tougher challenge ahead, this Game 7 victory showcased their resilience, depth, and ability to rise under pressure.
