Coppa Italia: Juve crush Cagliari to advance

Juventus turned on the style as they marched past  Cagliari with a scintillating performance that saw them score four unreplied goals at the Turin stadium in the round 16 of the Coppa Italia.

The win gave them a ticket to meet Empoli in the last eight of the competition.

The last meeting between both sides ended 1-1 here on October 6, and Juve went into the game on the back of four consecutive Serie A stalemates.

The hosts that were jeered off the pitch on Saturday after a 2-2 with rock-bottom Venezia turned on the style with an emphatic win. All thanks to goals from Dusan Vlahovic, Teun Koopmeiners, Francisco Conceicao, and Nico Gonzalez.

The first opportunity of the game came 40 seconds into the tie as Cagliari had a massive chance through Nadir Zortea, who rolled across from the right for Gianluca Lapadula to come sliding in, but Michele Di Gregorio made a desperate reaction save with his foot.

Juventus had chances to open the goals account until. They finally took the lead. Kenan Yildiz released a pass to Vlahovic from eight yards with a clever pass. The striker controlled with his back to the goal turned on the spot and drilled it through Wieteska’s legs into the far bottom corner.

The Bianconeri made it two after the restart with a magnificent free kick from Koopmeiners. The Dutchman bent the ferocious left-foot finish into the top corner from 30 yards out.

Vlahovic thought he had scored his second of the game with a delightful dinked finish, but he was offside on the Khephren Thuram ball over the top. Another goal of the Serbian was disallowed for offside, with a diving header on the Francisco Conceicao curler that was going wide.

Vlahovic finally had the chance to net a brace when Vlahovic caught Alessandro Deiola napping in midfield and surged forward alone, but failed to score while trying to go around Scuffet, as he narrowed the angle too much and the ball hit the side-netting.

After several attempts, Francisco Conceicao eventually made it three for the Bianconeri. The Portuguese winger cut inside Jose Luis Palomino to bend his left foot into the far bottom corner.

Nico Gonzalez wrapped up the game two minutes before regulation time with a truly extraordinary goal. He started the run from inside his half and, at a full sprint, managed to lob Scuffet from the edge of the area with remarkable precision.
