Dembélé makes PSG squad for Chelsea clash

Luis Enrique will be able to call on star player Ousmane Dembélé when they battle Chelsea in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The 28-year-old French attacker was withdrawn due to an injury sustained within 30 minutes during PSG’s 3-2 win over AS Monaco on 17th February in the first leg of the knockout playoffs.

Since then, the Ballon d’Or holder has not played. The former Barcelona attacker has been struggling with injury and fitness issues throughout this campaign after capping a successful campaign last season with the first Champions League for the French club.

Dembélé had struggled with minor issues the day before the match against the Principality club.

Although passed the fitness test to start against Monaco but only lasted a quarter of an hour on the pitch after sustaining another knock.

According to reports, Le Parisien expects that Dembélé will make a timely return.

PSG will for the third time within a month face Monaco in the Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes on Friday night.

It was gathered that Dembélé has had a normal training and is now expected to be in the matchday squad to face the Principality club.

This is surely a boost for the European champions as the Frenchman’s hopes of facing Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League in less than one week.

PSG had struggled this season to replicate last season’s success both in the domestic and international scenes.

They had to face a tough clash against Monaco to make it to the Champions League last 16.

They were presented with an opportunity to progress when Monaco were one man down in both legs, and the Paris club took them and got the ticket.

They will be facing the same club again that almost ran away with the result, but caused their own predicament by playing with ten men for the most important part of both legs.
